Chiangsan District Immigration Office Check Point on the opposite side of the river is the Muang Tone Pueng check point, Borkaew District, Laos. The check point is 60 km. from the City of Chiangrai and located at the pier in front of Chiangsan District office. This is the connection point to
Travel on Khong River to Chian Tung, Myanmar, Chiangrung, and Sip Song Punna, the south of China. The boat fare is 2,500-3,000 baht / person. ( take 2 days and stay overnight on the boat)
Chian Khong District Immigration Office Check Point on the opposite side of the river is the Muang Huy Sai check point, Borkaew District, Laos. The check point is 114 km. from the City of Chiangrai and it is located at the Buck Pier. This is the connection point to travel across the river to the City of Huy Sai or travel down on the Khong River to Luang Phrabang and Vientiane; Laos then come back to Thailand at Nongkhai Province. The long tail boat (speed boat) would leave Chian Khong in the morning, seats 6 passengers and the fare are 1,450 Baht each (take 6 hours). The trucking boat(slow boat) is 850 Baht per person and it takes 2 days 1 night (stay overnight at Baan Park Beng, in Laos).
     This is the permanent Border Pass Check Point between Thai and Laos on the bank of Khong River. Thai Tourists can get a border pass and visa to Laos. The border pass will grant a 15 days permission. Thai Tourists would need to bring 2 of one inch crinfo/pictures and a copy of identification card along with 35 Baht fees (For Thai permit) and another 50 Baht (for Laos permit). If it is on weekends the additional 20 Baht for overtime would be added. But if you have brought your passport with you, there would be no visa fees.

     For tourists from other countries, would need a visa from the embassy (open everyday from 6.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.) no border pass would be issued. The fees would be about 1,600 Baht or 35$US. From this point, tourists can travel to Luang Phrabang or Vientiane, Laos and come back to Thailand at Nongkhai Province or travel by car, bus or boat from Huy Sai Pier to Bor Kaew and other cities in Laos. Moreover, in the summer season during the month of April, there are festivals and merchants would open up their shops along the Beach of Khong River every year.

     This village is located on the route Chiangsaen-Chiang Khong which is the road along the Khong riverside. The village belongs to Thai Lue whose culture and tradition is very interesting. Especially, their famous weaving skills. From Chiang Khong, tourists can come to Baan Haard Bai by boat
a t Buck Pier which would take about an hour while enjoy the scene of both sides of Khong riversides.

     It is located 9 km north of Chiangsaen, along the Khong riverside road. Sob Ruak is the area where the Khong River which runs between Thailand and Laos meets Ruak River which runs between Thailand and Myanmar. At this location, tourists can see Myanmar and Laos clearly.

     The Golden Triangle was once famous for its opium growing area, literally largest in the world. Even though, there is no longer opium in this location anymore these days. Still there is a fantastic view of body of water of 3 rivers right on the edge of the border of 3 countries. Around Sob Ruak area, there are boats for rent to travel to Chiangsan and Chiang Khong and it would take 45 minutes and one hour orderly (4 persons / boat and it costs 300-500 baht / boat).
